'Iraq seeks to benefit by Azerbaijan`s experience on oil sector'

Speaker of Azerbaijan`s parliament Ogtay Asadov has today met visiting Iraqi delegation led by chief of the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations Humam Hamoody. Asadov pointed out Azerbaijan is interested in dynamic development of bilateral relations and such visits would contribute to the expansion of cooperation. He underlined that as a country suffering from terrorism Azerbaijan condemns terrorist attacks in Iraq. Azerbaijani soldiers actively participate in international peacekeeping operations in Iraq.

Azerbaijani Speaker briefed the Iraqi delegation on country`s achievements, successful oil strategy, and country`s leading role in the region. Speaking on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Asadov stressed that the conflict impedes country`s development. He also thanked the Iraqi government for supporting Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and for the support it gave in the UN Security Council elections.

In turn, Hamoody said he witnessed rapid development in Azerbaijan and his country wants to benefit by Azerbaijan`s experience on oil production, legislation, science, education and other spheres.

The Iraqi official congratulated Azerbaijan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and underscored that Iraq supports Azerbaijan`s position on the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Then, the head of Azerbaijan-Iraq interparliamentary friendship group Jala Yunis and others made their remarks.
