Employee of Azerbaijan`s Presidential Administration Foreign Relations Department Turab Gurbanov has sent a letter to the professors of French Sorbonne University over the bill of the Lower Chamber of the French parliament on criminalizing denial of the so-called Armenian genocide.
Gurbanov pointed out his country hails Sorbonne University`s activity and underlined that Azerbaijan carries out pro-western policy.
The letter says “how can I show France as a democratic state if its parliament adopts a bill with 35 parliamentarians` vote, although there are 557 members in the National Assembly. How can I spoke of a legal state if the relevant bill is not in compliance with the Western law logics which you taught me?” The author says that France is one of the co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group which realizes mediation mission in Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The conflict resulted in occupation of 20 percent of the Azerbaijani lands by Armenia, ethnic cleansing and displacement of Azerbaijanis refugees and IDPs. As a state official how can I assure the Azerbaijani community on France`s neutrality in the settlement of the conflict?!
Gurbanov stressed that as a graduate of the University he needs help of the professors to find answers to the relevant questions.
