13 January 2012 [15:55] - TODAY.AZ
The British Council backed by EU finances has presented a new regional project of Communal cooperation and dialogue for the communities. It will be carried out with the support of the Azerbaijani human rights fund and Economic Studies Centre.

"This is a 256,000 euro project to create a bridge between people, population and municipalities, between civil society organisations and local self-government bodies," EU representative in Azerbaijan, Roland Kobia told journalists at the project's presentation on Friday.

He said the effectiveness of the project will be increased due to the cooperation of different partners such as the EU, nongovernmental organisations and Azerbaijani government.

The project aims at assisting the development of cooperation of communities and not of governmental organisations and local self-government bodies. It also aims at improving a system of cooperation as well as expansion of citizens' participation in the decision-making process. The project will cover the Zaqatala-Balaken region, Qazakh and Oguz.
