Azerbaijan, India discuss coop

Azerbaijani ambassador to India Ibrahim Hajiyev has met the country`s Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah to discuss prospects for cooperation between the two countries. Hajiyev said Azerbaijan attaches importance to development of economic cooperation with India. The diplomat noted the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and India will be marked this year in both countries.

Hajiyev also briefed the Indian minister on the progress made in energy sphere in Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the ambassador highly appreciated the fact that official Delhi supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Hajiyev also pointed out his country intends to cooperate with Azerbaijan in renewable energy sector.  Farooq Abdullah, in turn, recalled his trips to Baku and Nakhchivan in 1978, saying he wishes to visit Azerbaijan again. The Minister said India was ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan in solar, wind and geotermal energy spheres, adding a draft Memorandum of Understanding on this issue would be submitted to the Embassy in the near future.
