“Modernize policy: new economic and social challenges” conference runs in Baku - PHOTO

A conference entitled “Modernize policy: new economic and social challenges” initiated by New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) has today started in Baku. Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of YAP Ali Ahmadov welcomed the conference participants and told of significance of the event. He said the event brought together guests from more than 30 countries.

Ahmadov said after regaining its independence, Azerbaijan faced some problems. In spite of Armenian military aggression and economic crisis, Azerbaijan paved the way for new development. A poverty level decreased from 49 to 9 percent. Azerbaijan with its rich natural resources plays an important role in ensuring energy security both in Europe and the world.
Chief of the socio-political department of Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov read out a letter of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to the conference participants. The participants congratulated President of Azerbaijan on his birthday.

Latvian ex-president, member of Seimas Valdis Zatlers stressed significance of the conference. He told of tasks the states set to contradict the new social and economic challenges. Former chairman of the Philippines parliament, co-chairman of the permanent committee of international conference of the Asian political parties Jose de Venicia said one of the main challenges the countries face is solution of the economic problems and reduction of poverty.

Mr. Venicia stressed an importance of resolution of the existing conflicts in the world. He said Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict must be solved on the basis of the norms and principles of the international law and within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The conference will be followed by plenary sessions on different subjects.
