Baffling signs pointing out road closures to ease congestion that can
be read from the comfort of your stationary car, to a
too-good-to-be-believed offer for fish and chips – you have to rub your
eyes and read them twice to believe them.
The US website bannedinhollywood.com asked readers to send in their favourite examples of idiotic signage.
Worryingly they had a big response from this side of the Atlantic.
‘Lane closed to ease congestion’ was just the start of it.
Showing a distinct lack of foresight, is a sign placed right in front of an SOS phone declaring: ‘Access to telephone 20 yards.’
US park rangers posted this welcome to hikers: ‘The trail was created with the physically and visually disabled in mind. Those who do not have these disabilities can also experience the park in a different way by using the trail as it was intended.’
