Vienna Chamber Orchestra to perform in Baku

The Vienna Chamber Orchestra is giving its first concerts in Azerbaijan at the Baku State Philharmonic Hall on 20 and 21 September, 1news.az reported.

Ayyub Guliyev of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre will conduct the Vienna Chamber Orchestra in both concerts.

On Tuesday, the orchestra will perform Mozart's Divertimento D-Dur KV 136, Mendelssohn's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D minor, Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings (op.11/2) and Schoenberg's Transfigured Night op. 4 in the version for string orchestra. The violin soloist will be Je Hye Lee, winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.

On Wednesday, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra will play Mozart's Piano Concerto No 7 (Lodron) and works by Azerbaijani composers, Uzeyir Hajibayov, Agshin Alizade's and Fikrat Amirov. The pianists will be Yegana Akhundova and Murad Huseynov.

The concerts by the Vienna Chamber Orchestra are part of the Uzeyir Hajibayov International Music Festival, organized by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
