The 2nd international pianists contest has ended in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
The contest, part of the 3rd international music festival, was organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Russian Andrei Yaroshnsky, Georgian Ketevan Jakaratashvili and Ukrainian Aleksandr Samoilov performed together with the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Rauf Abdullayev in the final show of the competition on Friday.
The performances by Azerbaijani Nargiz Kangarli, Japanese Mizuho Nakada, Georgians Aleksandr Vashadze and Anna Kipiani were held on Thursday. A jury panel consisting of 11 popular pianists headed by honored academician of the UN International Arts Academy, professor of the Juliana Music Academy of the United States Oksana Yablonskaya announced the results of the competition.
Winner of the contest Yaroshinski was awarded $30,000, while runners-up Nakada and Jakaratashvili were awarded $10,000 each and third place winner Kipianni receive $10,000.
Vashadze was awarded $1,000 for the best performance of “Gaytagi” by Azerbaijani composer Tofig Guliyev. Azerbaijani pianist Farhad Badalbayli and Dmitry Yablonsky presented their personal awards – 500 euros- to Kangarli and Samoilov.
