On Friday, Eurovision-2011 winners, Eldar & Nigar were invited to the "Day.Az Radio" - first online radio in Azerbaijan. Along the way, they gave an interview, text of which you can check out below. What is your daily schedule?Nigar: We do have specific things we have to do each day, which include meetings, events and such. I usually get up early, at 7, then its our daily plan, we have to try to fullfill it. I try to get to bed not later than 12:00, however sometimes its hard because of the tight schedule and flying.
Eldar: Like Nigar said, there are meetings each and every day, and I think its very interesting. We try to work as hard as we can, and remain in "the active mode" so to speak. Like everyone else, we also get tired, however, if you think about it, you're getting tired of something you love to do, and every day you get to do it again. That's a good stimulus.
Do you remember your childhood fears?Nigar: I used to be afraid of the dark. I've been afraid of it for 20 years or so, I couldnt sleep without leaving the lights on. What's interesting is that my daughters are completely the opposite - no fear of the dark at all, they're brave. Also, I used to be afraid of the water. I did like the sea, but was afraid of the waves, because couldnt swim at all. As of now, even though I am not a professional swimmer, I dive in!
Eldar: Honestly speaking, right now I am very afraid of being alone. When I was a kid, I used to be afraid of spiders. Its not that i dont like them, i was just scared. Once I had to overcome my fear, so I took a spider, and...put it on my own hand! At that very moment, I've gone through a lot of emotions!
What are you more satisfied with, your singing or the way you look on stage?Nigar: Frankly, I am very critical of myself. I cant state that I always enjoy my looks or performances, there are always mistakes that I notice when I watch the recorded tapes. We try to work on ourselves, because that's the only way to increase professionalism.
Eldar: I agree, the artist is such a person that must combine both arts and looks in himself, everything has to be in balance. For example, you cant be a great singer, and have a very unattractive looks, that pushes the viewer away. With that said, we try to look after ourselves, and so far, thank God, we manage just fine, although there's very little time for that, usually.
Do you believe that the popularity of a "Eurovision star" lasts for only a year? Such opinion does exist...Eldar: You know, it depends on the singer and the people that surround him/her. These people can either help or make things worse. Aside from that, there's still luck, destiny.
Nigar: Take "ABBA" as a bright example. They kept their popularity after Eurovision, just as did Celine Dion and others. We surely will continue to work on ourselves, to keep our popularity.
Would you accept an invitation to sing on a wedding?Nigar (laughs): I cannot answer that, I really dont know.
Eldar: I would accept invitations from my close friends. Also, I'd love to participate in various parties, every artist wants his public/viewers to understand him/her.
You performed in different countries, on various stages. Was there a difference?Nigar: Well, when you perform at home, of course here people warmly welcome you, and it feels natural. Same can be said about Turkey, they also greeted us warmly, we felt like home there.
Eldar: You know, some really dislike us because we won. Its like "how did that little caucasus country won the Eurovision", this can be expected from a number of countries, Russia for example. Some russians dislike us,because we won, and they took only 16th place. Aside from that ,we're thankful to those who love us and believed in us.
