Young Azerbaijani composer becomes laureate of international contest in Australia

Young Azerbaijani composer Turkar Gasimzadeh has become the winner of an international contest in Melbourne, Australia.
The contest titled Rare Forms of Continuance in Space was organized by the Italian Institute of Culture. Currently Gasimzadeh studies composition at the Manhattan School of Music.

The festival – competition was guided by maestro Carlo Forlivesi, famous Italian composer and conductor. About 60 composers from a wide range of countries have submitted their entries for the contest. The jury comprised of German, Italian and Australian musicians, selected some 11 works for the festival.

Gasimzadeh beautiful composition “Vu` cumpra” for piano, dedicated to the poem of the same name by the Italian poet Vivian Lamarkuen in the performance of Knji Fujimura, earned him the first place. One of the radio channels of Australia broadcasted the composition. Gasimzadeh was also invited to a gala concert of the winners of international music festivals due in February, 2011, in Modena, Italy.
