Azerbaijani and Korean national music evening hosted in Baku

Azerbaijani and Korean national music evening took place at the International Mugham Center in Baku. The evening was organized by the Korean embassy in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan-Korea Culture Exchange Association (SEBA) and Korean Foundation on the occasion of the national holiday of Korea.

Korean Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Ji-ha said in his welcoming speech that both countries have similar history and despite geographical farness, Korea intends to develop relations with Azerbaijan on the basis of mutual interests. He showed an increase of trade turnover between the countries as an indicator of the development of bilateral relations. The trade turnover between the countries was $47 million in 2005, but this figure reached $450 million in 2008.

Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Misir Mardanov delivered congratulatory speech and spoke about the strengthening of Azerbaijani-Korean relationship. He said 26 Azerbaijani students were getting education in Korea currently.

Azerbaijani music was played on the Korean national instruments at the event, which was finalized with the performance of Azerbaijani singer Aygun Beyler.
