National qualifier for "Eurovision-2011" song contest starts in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan Public Television (ITV), an organizer and a broadcaster of the Eurovision song contest in Azerbaijan, has launched national qualifying round to pick a singer who will represent the country in the next contest to be held in Germany in 2011.

The qualifier will be held in accordance with the requirements and regulations of the Eurovision Song Contest. "To ensure transparency and objectivity in the qualifying round, not only opinion of professional judges, but also those of spectators will be taken into account.”

The national qualifier is open to persons over 16 years. Bidders must have a beautiful voice, the ability to dance. Only 100 people will be selected from those who apply to the qualifying round,” the ITV press office reported.

Those wishing to participate in the qualifying round may apply from October 5 to 15 to the ITV Organizing Committee located at 241, Sharifzade street. Each applicant must submit 3 color photos taken from different angles, a copy of identity card and a special questionnaire for his/her autobiography.
