Azerbaijan to host two international music festivals this summer

"We will do our best to make this summer interesting despite the holiday season," Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said.

Festival in Shaki, entitled "Silk Road", will be held on June 27 to July 2. It will be organized by the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan jointly with the Shaki executive branch. The event will involve Chamber Orchestra after Gara Garayev, the newly created string quartet "Oasis" (its members holds a master class in Shaki College of Music), Korean folklore group and the Norwegian-Azerbaijani ensemble "Sari galin".

Soloists of the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theatre will present excerpts from operas like "Layla and Majnun" (Uzeir Hajibeyov) and "Shah Ismail" (Muslim Magomaev). This year Shak is announced capital of arts in Azerbaijan.
