Evander Holyfield's wife files a protective order after being punched in the face

12 February 2010 [14:23] - TODAY.AZ
Evander Holyfield has thrown one too many punches, and now his third marriage is paying the price.
Candi, the boxing champ's third wife, has filed a temporary protective order against her 47-year-old husband after he hit her in the face.

According to RadarOnline.com, Evander allegedly punched Candi early in the morning on February 1, after she complained that it was too cold inside their $10 million Georgia mansion.

And apparently, this isn't the first time that the pugilist has harmed Candi.

“In 2008 he choked me in front of our daughter and house keeper," Candi claimed in the protective order request. "In 2009 he has hit me in front of the children. He has grabbed me in front of the children. A couple of weeks ago he threw a bottle of water at me.”

Despite a supposed history of domestic violence, the protective order caught the four-time heavyweight champ by surprise.

"It came as a total shock to him that Candi had filed the order," a source told RadarOnline.com. “As soon as he heard about it he contacted her by telephone and told her that he wanted to try and save their marriage and that he would go to counseling with her."

Money could be the contributing factor in the Holyfield's marital reconciliation.

Evander made an estimated $200 million during his boxing career, but his Georgia mansion went into foreclosure in 2009 before being pulled from the auction block at the last moment.
