YARAT Center, as part of the collaboration between the "Praktika" Theatre and YARAT Contemporary Art Space has hosted a performance of a modern-style plastic performance titled "Alone with Myself".
The performance is the result of the artistic work of the Jack's Garret collective, a resident of the "Praktika" Theatre, during the 2022/2023 season, inspired by the works of Joseph Brodsky.
The performance "Alone with Myself", which tells about an internal conflict, combined the techniques of street dance and contemporary choreography, creating a production in which the depth of poetry is conveyed through the power of movement. The main character faces a choice: to struggle or to accept oneself, to move towards the light or to descend into darkness.
Actors Alexander Tronov and Alexander Alyokhin reinterpreted Brodsky's poems, immersing the audience in a world of metaphors and symbols, where every decision matters.
About 150 guests attended the performance, whose concept, costumes, and idea belonged to choreographers Anna Deltsova and Alexander Tronov.
The day after the performance, the Jack's Garret group held a master class in contemporary choreography as part of the collaboration between YARAT and the "Praktika" Theatre. Participants in the two-part training, led by Russian choreographer and actor Alexander Tronov, learned street dance techniques and how to convey emotions through movement.
"Praktika" Theatre is an experimental center based in the heart of Moscow, working with contemporary texts.
"Praktika" speaks to its audience through the contemporary artistic languages of new writing, music, design, architecture, multimedia, and acting.
The theatre explores the multidisciplinary field where today's art emerges. Among the theatre's residents are “Brusnikina's Workshop,” Yuri Makarov's "Taste Theatre," the author's theatre "Sketches in Space," and the street and experimental dance team Jack's Garret, founded by Alexander Tronov and Anna Deltsova.
