A book "Flood" by the outstanding Kyrgyz writer and TURKSOY Secretary-General Sultan Raev has been presented at International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
President of Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova informed about the activities of the organization she leads. She underlined that the fund is making efforts to preserve the shared Turkic heritage, particularly examples of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
"We are presenting the 17th book prepared by the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. The translation into Azerbaijani was done by Rabiga Nazimgizi. One of the priority areas of our organization’s activities is to pass on the rich legacy of outstanding figures of Turkic peoples to future generations. The fund has established three series of books: 'Outstanding Figures of the Turkic World,' 'Literary Jewels of the Turkic World,' and 'Scientific Jewels of the Turkic World.' On December 13 in Paris, we will celebrate the 950th anniversary of Mahmud Kashgari's work 'Diwan Lugat al-Turk' ('Dictionary of Turkic Dialects'). Scholars, researchers, and representatives of state and international organizations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Hungary, and other countries will gather for the conference," she said.
The Azerbaijan Culture Minister Adil Karimli pointed out that the Azerbaijani people have a deep respect for the works of the great son of the Turkic world, Chingiz Aitmatov.
"We have gathered in Baku for the presentation of the book by the outstanding representative of Kyrgyz literature – the Secretary General of TURKSOY, Sultan Raev. The Azerbaijan Culture Ministry and the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation are implementing a number of joint projects. This is our latest project. I am confident that there will be more such projects in the future," the minister emphasized.
The speakers at the event, including the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, academician Isa Gabibbayli, the Kyrgyz Ambassador to Azerbaijan Makhsat Mamytkanov, People's Writer Chingiz Abdullayev, and the director of the Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, academician Nizami Jafarov, shared their thoughts on Sultan Raev's work "Flood."
In their remarks, they noted that there has always been an interest in the works of authors from the Turkic world in Azerbaijan.
In the coming days, an event dedicated to Chingiz Aitmatov, one of the most prominent representatives of the Turkic world who has made significant contributions to enriching the literature of Turkic peoples with new content and ideas, will take place in Baku.
The speakers pointed out that Sultan Raev's work "Flood" addresses the question of what would happen if the biblical flood occurred in our times.
The book states that, in essence, the modern universal flood has already occurred; however, people are drowning not in water, but in the internet. The book also tackles issues arising from artificial intelligence.
The event was attended by government officials, deputies, representatives of the Kyrgyz Embassy and the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan, as well as figures from science and culture and members of the public.
During the artistic part of the event, actress of Baku Municipal Theater Honored Artist Khusnia Murvatova read an excerpt from the novel "Flood."
