Music is so often noted as a source of inspiration for artists. Azerbaijani artist Bahruz Kengerli is inspired by music and most notably by jazz.

An exhibition of works by talented artist will run in Gyz Galasy Gallery on October 20-28.

The exposition themed "Rhythm of Jazz" is devoted to music, in particular, to jazz. The exposition includes exclusively new works related to music, Day.Az reported.

"Jazz is emotion, expression, strong energy, so I decided to add more expressivity to my paintings. I used bright colors, laconic brush strokes, etc. I love music very much, so I decided to express this theme more brightly and emotionally, " said artist.

The exhibition is open on weekdays from 10:00 to 19:00, and  on weekends from 10:30 to 19:00. Admission is free.

At the outset, jazz was dance music, performed by swinging big bands. Further, the dance elements faded into the background and improvisation became the key element of the music.

The revival of jazz in the Land of Fire started in 1960s, thanks to the active efforts of great national composers such as Gara Garayev, Tofig Guliyev, Rauf Hajiyev and Niyazi.

The “flowering” of Azerbaijani jazz is associated with the names of giants such as Rafig Babayev and Vagif Mustafazade, who experimented creating unrepeatable compositions, becoming the founders of a new jazz trend jazz-mugham. This unique genre assembles both a traditional Azerbaijan music and a classic American jazz.

Today, Azerbaijani jazz performers are winners of many international jazz festivals and competitions.
