"Exhibition for descendants" opened at Artwin Gallery Kicik QalArt on October 11, featuring works of Russian artist Vladimir Abikh.

Vladimir depicted various images and symbols on stone-sandstone and  given unusual names to his masterpieces such as "Dialogue about art", "Shaman in virtual trance", "Best years before our era", "Snake attacking prey," "Scene of ritual rite," "Dialogue about politics" and others.

Speaking about Azerbaijan's capital, Vladimir Abikh said that he very liked Baku. Moreover, he learned a lot about the national culture, cuisine and also met with many Azerbaijani artists. He admitted that all this was reflected in his works.

"I believe that the stone is the most reliable conductor of messages and images. No matter how many years passed, the symbols and images created on sandstone will remain the same as on the first day, and for any artist it is important that his works be seen and the future generation," Abikh said.

The exhibition, run until December 3, is divided into three parts.

The  symbols of modernity, which became artifacts of the ancient world are displayed on the ground floor. The works reflection the connection between the past and the future are presented on the second floor. The exposition on the third floor is devoted to an endless history of correspondence in the form of a primitive pictographic letter of modern people.

The artist also shared the wonderful photos of Baku on his Instagram page, marking its beauty.

"Baku is a great city in terms of tourism. Besides the sea, there is an ancient part, an eastern version of neoclassicism of Soviet construction. At the same time, there is a high-tech presented by Zaha Hadid and skyscrapers of an unknown architect in the form of fire tongues. All these buildings of different epochs are combined quite harmoniously," he wrote.
