Documentary about Zaur Gilalov to be presented

A documentary "Life faded in spring" dedicated to the memory of the head of the World Congress of Mountain Jews, Zaur Gilalov, will be presented in Azerbaijan.

The film tells about the unique settlement of Guba region - Krasnaya Sloboda, which is a clear example of multiculturalism and tolerance, Trend Life reported.

The film familiarizes with the history of the Krasnaya Sloboda, its inhabitants and traditions, which they preserved and developed for centuries.  The film further tells story of one of the well-known clans of this village, the Gurshumov family.

Zaur Gilalov, the eldest son of a prominent representative of this clan, Tahir Gurshumov, made an invaluable contribution to the promotion of the Mountain Jews in the world.

Gilalov was the initiator of an international coordinating center-fund for the preservation and development of Jewish culture.

He participated actively in the work of the World Jewish Congress, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, European Jewish Congress and Russian Jewish Congress.

The life of Zaur Gilalov tragically ended on March 5, 2004 in Moscow. He was only 29 years old.

The film "Life faded in spring" will be presented on domestic TV channels and social networks.

The project was implemented with the assistance of Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations , Vice Mayor of the Israeli city Yokneam Illit Roman Perez and  the head of the Israeli representation of the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism, Arye Gut.
