Red Garden nominated for Nika Award

Azerbaijani film has been nominated to the 30th Nika Award in Russia.

"Red Garden" film is nominated for the award in the category "Best film of CIS and Baltic States", Trend Life reported.

The Nika Award is the main annual national film award in Russia presented by the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts and Science. It was established in 1987 in Moscow by Yuli Gusman, and ostensibly modelled on the Oscars. The event is traditionally held in late march.

"Red garden" refers to the difficult genre of drama which reminds people that love is our only salvation.

The film tells the story of a provincial teacher from blue blood, Abbas. ? desperate desire of having his own son makes him so indifferent to orphan in his custody and even to deadlock situation of his beloved spouse Vafa. But everything changes, when he himself causes Vafa’s death. Now in the otherworld Abbas is craving to have back all the things that he couldn’t protect in this world…

Cast includes Magsud Mammadov, Gulzar Gurbanova, and Taleh Badiyev. A film was co-produced by AzerbaijanFilm Company and White Media, (Russia).

The film will soon be shown in Austria. The feature film will be screened at LET’S CEE festival to be held on March 21-27.
