Day of Azerbaijani Culture held in Belarus

The Day of Azerbaijani Culture entitled "Pomegranate Festival" took place in Minsk, Belarus on October 1.

The festival kicked off in the capital’s Upper Town, where people gathered to familiarize with the culture of Azerbaijan, Azertac reported.

The celebration was attended by Azerbaijani MPs, representatives of Culture and Youth Affairs of Minsk City Executive Committee, chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijani communities in Belarus Natiq Bagirov and others.

Visitors to the festival were invited to attend workshops of Azerbaijani cuisine, exhibition, gules (national wrestling style) tournaments, and other entertainments.

Minsk residents and visitors enjoyed delicious sweet pastry pakhlava, walnut and rose jams, kebab, pomegranate juice and aromatic pilaf. 

Guests were delighted by Azerbaijani folk music, as well as Lezghinka and  Sar? Gelin dance performances.

The event also saw performances of  Ruslan Aslanov, a participant of Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, Belarusian singer Gunesh Abasova, and singer and composer Elcan Rzayev (the Netherlands) who was  the special guest of the festival.

The organizers were Minsk City Hall and the Congress of Azerbaijani Communities.

Azerbaijan and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1993. There is a vast potential for the development of investment cooperation between the two counties and for Azerbaijan's involvement in the projects implemented in Belarus.

Belarus opened embassy in Azerbaijan in February 2006, Azerbaijan opened embassy in Belarus in August 2006.
