Catalogue of composers, musicologists presented in Baku

Baku Museum Center has hosted a presentation of "Electronic catalogue of composers and musicologists ", Trend Life reported.

The presentation was held in the framework of the 8th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival.

The festival that made a great contribution to Azerbaijan’s musical traditions kicks off annually on the National Music Day, dedicated to the birthday of the legendary musician.

Electronic catalogue was prepared on the basis of brochures published under the project of Azerbaijan Composers’ Union.

The project “Azerbaijani composers and musicologists” has been  supported by the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Secretary of the Union, honored art worker Zemfira Gafarova stressed the importance of publications.

"The idea originated a few years ago. About 34 booklets have been already published.   The booklets provide information not only about the classics of musical art, but also modern composers and musicologists.  The preparation of 18 booklets is currently underway ", she said.

The publication provides information about such prominent national composers and  musicologists as Ashraf Abbasov, Shafiga Akhundova, Elsa Ibrahimova, Emin Sabitoglu, Ismail Hajibeyov, Dadache the Dadashov, Faiq Sujaddinov and others.
