The world of talented people is full of ideas. But what really inspires them to create a masterpiece? Sometimes it is a meeting with an interesting person, sometimes the unforgettable impressions of a trip and sometimes even a piece of paper. Mir-Teymur Mammadov is one of these people, who can catch the touch of beauty in simple things.

Mir-Teymur Mammadov studied at Azerbaijan State Art School named after Azim Azimzade. He graduated from Leningrad Higher Art School named after V. Mukhina (in architectural design and decoration) and the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema (artistic production faculty).

In 1998, he gained a membership of the international "World's Ceramists" catalog from Azerbaijan. In 2006 he was awarded with the title of "Ambassador of Peace". In 2007, he got the honorary diploma and medal of Cultural Urological Association, "Simurg", for his contributions to the culture and art of Azerbaijan.

Speaking about his works, the winner of "Humay" National Prize, Mir-Teymur, said that his interest in this art was developed from early age. He loved to scalp clay figures. His house was full of such works then.

"Nobody put me in the frames. I was engaged in everything what could be interesting for a little boy: music, fight, painting and sculpture," he says.

Speaking about his preferences in material and techniques, Mir-Teymur said, sometimes he works only for amusement.

"There are also specific techniques which I use to improve the quality of clay and its plasticity. This allows me to create more complicated works," he said.

A member of Azerbaijan Union of Artists notes each work takes a long process from idea to picture. His longest work is the Center of Ceramics, artist notes. "It took several years to turn an idea into an artistic piece. And I can not say - that the design is finished."

Talented artist said that the final result would be interesting only if you work with love.

"Clay is widely used for treatment of nervous diseases," the artist stated.

His favorite artist is Leonardo da Vinci but he says, to him, human being remains the main masterpiece of world.

Mir-Teymur Mammadov has published more than 1,500 scientific articles on history, art and ethnography. Famous artist has taken part in numerous international symposiums held in Israel, Ukraine, Belarus. He has also been invited to the symposium of ceramists slated for August in Serbia.
