World music creates music world in Gabala

Azerbaijan's sixth international music festival continues integrating world cultures in picturesque Gabala.

Azer Rzazade, the winner of several international competitions and first Azerbaijani opera singer studying in the world-famous La Scala Academy, said it is a great honor for him to participate at the festival for the second time.

"Music lovers from many countries have come to Gabala. The city has become a center of classical music. This, once again demonstrates the glorious traditions of world music in Azerbaijan. It also highlights our hospitality. The high-level international event is aimed at integrating different cultures and people. The festival is also acting as a propaganda for Azerbaijani culture. It is simultaneously a means for promoting musical traditions of our country in the world," he stressed.

Azer Rzazade, 24, is the soloist of Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre, winner of international competitions and a member of the international festivals. He has performed with many orchestras in Austria, France, Italy, Russia, Greece, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Turkey, UK, and UAE.

Since 2012, he has participated in various European master classes.

Rzazade performed at the evening of chamber music, accompanied by pianist Mushvig Guliyev, the winner of international competitions and Haydn Conservatory student.

The duo played works by Azerbaijani and European composers.

The festival supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is an outstanding musical event in the cultural life of Azerbaijan.

Gabala International Music Festival brings together talented musicians from around the world each year.

Annually during the festival, the stage in Gabala hosts great works of local and world famous composers. This stage invites both young and famous performers, who perform classic and chamber music, as well as Azerbaijani folk music Mugham.

This time, the guests are enjoying music from Russia, Turkey, South Africa, the U.S., Canada, France, Austria, Israel, Ukraine and Korea with Gabala's nature as the magnificent background until August 1.

The festival is traditionally held in the Chamber Music Hall of the city every day at 6 p.m. and in the open air at 9 p.m.
