Eco-art exhibition showcased in Baku

An "Eco art" exhibition of contemporary art was held in the Museum Center of Azerbaijan's Culture and Tourism Ministry on April 19-21.

The exposition was presented in the frame of the Baku Galleries Festival organized by the Baku Creative Center. The festival aimed to attract public interest to art, unite men of art and hold events for art lovers.

The exhibition was accompanied by the sounds of nature, which connected visitors to the magic world.

The festival, which takes place in Baku from March 4 until June 1, involves such art galleries and exhibition salons as Baku Creative Center, Baki, Khatai Miniatur Merkezi, Art Villa, Yeni Gallery, Muzey Merkezi (Museum Center), Kichik Qala, Yay!, LN Art, Qiz Qalas?, Muasir Incesenet Merkezi, Art Group and Nar Gallery.

In remarks at the exhibition, head of the Visual and Decorative Arts Department of the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Galib Gasimov, said, "The works of artists are dedicated to environmental protection. Pictures, sculptures, photos, batik works, and installations -- all these works were created on the ecological theme. The exhibition shows that environmental problems worry everyone."

Azerbaijani renowned man of art Ziyadkhan Aliyev and Sabit Zeyniyev, head of the environmental protection department of the Tamiz Shahar company, noted that the exhibition would promote public awareness of environmental issues.

Baku Creative Center head Emin Yasinov thanked the Museum Center for organizing the exhibition.

It was also highlighted that the theme of the exhibition drew interest of many artists and stimulated them to create new artworks on the environmental theme. Some of the artists created new works especially for the exhibition.

The exhibition featured paintings of Sabir Chopuroghlu, Ilham Mirzayev, Vugar Ali, Isa Mammadov, Etibar Mamiyev, Sanan Samadov, Natig Faradjullazadeh, Irina Eldarova; sculptures by Faig Hajiyev, Vadim Knyazikhin, photo compositions by Farid Khayrulin, Ruslan Mammadov, Lala Lambert-Aliyeva, batik by Tatyana Agababayeva, installation by Eldar Ibadullayev, and graphic works of Mehriban Efendi.

Particular interest was attracted by "Fish, bird, human" art-object created for the exhibition by Victor Grigoryev, a well-known Russian theater artist and art-mechanics specialist from Saint Petersberg.
