Ballet stars of Bolshoi Theatre to act “Don Quixote” in Baku

Star soloists of the Academic Bolshoi Theater will perform at the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre on April 13.

A play "Don Quixote”by Ludwig Minkus will be demonstrated by principal ballerina and laureate of International competition of Ballet Artists, Honored Artist of Russia Marianna Ryzhkina and leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, laureate of International competitions Vladislav Lantratov.

Azerbaijani People`s artist, professor Javanshir Jafarov will conduct the play.
In 2011, M. Ryzhkina and V. Lantratov were honored with an award for playing the leading roles Kitri and Basilio of “Don Quixote” during the International Classical Ballet Festival in England.
With the Bolshoi Theatre troupe Marianna and Vladislav have been on tours of America, Japan, England, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Brazil, Australia, Egypt, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Greece, and the Bermuda Islands.

Don Quixote is a ballet originally staged in four acts and eight scenes, based on an episode taken from the famous novel Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. It was originally choreographed by Marius Petipa to the music of Ludwig Minkus and was first presented by the Ballet of the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow, Russia on 26 December, 1869.
