Second Islamic music festival to open in Baku late April

Young classic music performers of the Islamic world will gather in Baku to participate the Second International Festival-Contest on April 23-26.

The contest will be organized with the support of UNESCO, Azerbaijan's Youth and Sports Ministry, Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli and the Youth Center Kainat.

The contest will be held between two age groups, with the younger group including performers aged under 15 and the senior group with performers aged 15-20.

It will be held in two rounds. Successful contesters will be required to collect the maximum points to qualify for the final round.

The grand award ceremony and a gala concert will be held in conclusion.

The contest is aimed to uncover new talents, exchange international experience and ideas, portray the Azerbaijani culture and arts for teenagers and youth from all over the world, and intensify dialogue between performers from the East and West.

The first International Festival-Contest of young Islamic classic music performers was held in Baku on April 27-28, 2012 and joined by representatives from 28 countries, including Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Russian republic of Tatarstan, etc.

The Kainat Youth Center was established in November 1990 as a non-governmental organization. The center implements projects aimed at intellectual improvement of children and youth.
