Azerbaijan joins Congress of Literature Journals of Turkic World

An Azerbaijani delegation has participated in fifth Congress of Literature Journals of the Turkic World in Astana, Kazakhstan. The delegation included chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers, Anar, the Union`s secretary Rashad Majid, and editor-in-chief of Ulduz magazine Elchin Huseynbayli.

The congress brought together authors, writers, representatives of journals, and journalists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Iran, Uzbekistan, Crimean Autonomous Republic of Ukraine, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan republics of Russia, and Northern Cyprus.

The congress provided a platform for discussing problems in literature journalism, cooperation opportunities and translation issues. The participants also discussed the creation of a communication and exchange network between journals, speeding up of the exchange of literature documents with a view to ensuring mutual promotion of Turkic peoples` literature, intensifying the mutual exchange of journals, conducting joint visits.

Azerbaijani writer Anar was named the “Literary Figure of 2012” for his contribution to promoting Turkic world`s literature.

The next congress will take place in 2013 in Eskisekir, Turkey.
