Future Shorts Film Festival opens in Baku - PHOTOS

Baku’s Park Cinema is hosting the autumn edition of Future Shorts film festival, organized by YARAT! Contemporary Art Space.

Baku spectators will be offered to watch 5 short films and explore hope and despair in human life in the metropolis. Selected short programming includes: “A Brief History of John Baldessari”, from the directors of CATFISH and narrated by Tom Waits; “Rite” nominated for BAFTA Best Short Film and Winner of Sundance`s Short Filmaking Award; “The Black Balloon”, Winner of Special Jury Mention at Tribeca Film Festival; “Café Regular” and “Auf Der Strecke” winner of over 50 international awards.

The Screenings took place at Park Cinema (4th floor of the Park Boulevard Mall) on Nov. 23 and will continue on Nov. 24 at 19:00 and 21:00. Tickets are available at Park Cinema box office.
Future Cinema, the creators of Future Shorts and Secret Cinema, announced the very latest edition of the Future Shorts Festival.

Showcasing the most exciting short films and filmmakers from around the world in amazing venues, Future Shorts is continuing to build a massive screening network and powerful community – from Cinema Jenin in Palestine, a palace in Bucharest and hot tubs in London: 6 continents, 90 countries, 285 cities with an expected audience of 40,000.

Future Shorts is also celebrating the launch of a film collaboration to save lives with Malaria No More UK, an innovative charity working to end suffering and death from malaria. This Autumn, film lovers across the UK can host screenings for the charity, creating a new brand opportunity to raise funds and awareness to fight malaria, a preventable disease that claims the life of a child every minute.

FUTURE CINEMA, the creators of FUTURE SHORTS, SECRET CINEMA, SECRET SCREENINGS, THE OTHER CINEMA, SECRET RESTAURANT AND SECRET SWIMMING create large-scale cinematic experiences, fusing feature film with music, theatre and live performance. The charity backs the global goal of near zero deaths by 2015 and saves lives through high-impact awareness and fundraising campaigns and by making strategic investments in Africa where over 90% of all malaria deaths occur. Malaria No More UK`s partnerships in Africa are helping to protect over ten million people from malaria.
