Russian art critic delivers lecture in Baku

Russian art critic, artistic director of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts, founder of Hermitage Association and curator of art exhibitions abroad Leonid Bazhanov made a lecture in UNS Creative Stage here organized by YARAT Contemporary Art Space non-profit organization.
Leonid Bazhanov delivered a lecture called “Integration experience into modern system of art” for creative persons, especially for young painters.

Russian art critics provided information on modern art fields such as, underground, avant-garde and modernism. Touching upon the first 012 Baku Public Art Festival, Russian art critic spoke about the further cooperation prospects.

“Hermitage Association`s branches are interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the relevant sphere,” he added. Mr. Bazhanov also presented different exhibition catalogues to Executive Director of YARAT Contemporary Art Space Aida Mahmudova.

“Yarat” is a non-commercial, private organization founded by Aida Mahmudova specifically to support the development of contemporary art in Azerbaijan and abroad, implementing its aim through organizing exhibitions, events and educational programs. These projects will stimulate and encourage Azeri artists and emphasize the idea of art as a tool to educate and bridge the gap between different cultures.

The variety of future projects will build a greater understanding and development of creative space, enabling an educational progression within a professional framework.
