Izmir Municipal Council approves SOCAR refinery construction plan

The Municipal Council of Izmir has approved the plan of construction of SOCAR-owned new oil refinery in Izmir. The Council earlier stated more than once that construction of an oil refinery within the city's territory contradicts the city's architectural and planning norms.

The solemn laying ceremony of fundament of a new oil refinery, which will be specialized in supply to petrochemical plant Petkim co-owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), took place in Izmir on October 25.
