29 November 2011 [16:53] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan has every opportunity to develop alternative and renewable energy sources and to obtain access to foreign markets, Jamil Melikov, deputy head of the State Agency on alternative and renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan said in Baku today in the Azerbaijani-Polish seminar on green energy and economy.

According to Melikov, Azerbaijan is actively working to promote green energy. Particular work is done to cooperate with the European Union in this area. This cooperation is currently implemented currently in draft form, at the level of discussion and consideration by the Ministry of Industry and Energy and the Cabinet of Ministers.

"There are opportunities to develop wind, solar energy, as well as the opportunities of small rivers in Azerbaijan," Melikov said.

According to Melikov, Gobustan test site was opened to develop alternative energy in

Azerbaijan in September 2011. It will create opportunities to form the country's experts in this field, which in turn will help develop green energy, both within the country and beyond it.

Ambassador of Poland to Azerbaijan Michael Lobenda said at the opening of the workshop that Poland is active in the development of green economy and energy and is one of the countries in Europe, where this work is implemented more intensely.

The Ministry of Environment of Poland, for instance is implementing a GreenEvo project, whose goal is to transfer Polish innovative technologies in the environment and the global dissemination of technical ideas.

The priority of the project is export of Polish technologies in the environmental field to foreign markets. Labenda said both Azerbaijan and Poland are developing rapidly, and so integration capabilities of the parties in the field of green energy and technologies in the environmental field are important.
