The Azerbaijani government has the task of doubling the economy in the next 10 years. This task is ambitious, but realistic, Azerbaijani Central Bank Chairman Elman Rustamov said in parliament while discussing the draft state budget for 2012 and the next three years.
"At present, GDP per capita is $ 6,000 in local prices," he said. "The figure hits $9,000-10,000 in the purchasing capacity of manat. This means that this figure must reach $12,000 for ten years, on a parity price - $20,000." He said this must happen due to the growth of non-oil sector.
