Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry sues BP for AZN 640 531

The Caspian Complex Monitoring Administration of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has revealed some shortcomings while monitoring the oil industry this year.

The Ministry’s press service said that it was determined that domestic wastes and combined sewage from the platforms in Azeri-Chirag-Deep Water Guneshli and Shah Deniz fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea spilt into the sea, the bore mud was not utilized properly. BP was sued for AZN 593 948 in 2010 and for AZN 46583 in 2011.

Discussions are being held with the company concerning the suits filed in 2002-2009 for payment of the compensation for the damage to nature.
