Agricultural production increases by 7% in Azerbaijan

In January-October, 2011, GDP increased by 7.1% in Azerbaijani agriculture.

State Statistical Committee says harvesting in agrarian sector approaches the end. As of November 1, this year, 2 455,9 thousand tons of grain, 937.5 thousand tons of potatoes, 1,184,6 thousand tons of vegetables, 615.9 thousand tons of fruits and berries, melons 477.6 thousand tons, 115 thousand tons of grapes, 3.5 thousand tons tobacco, 190.6 thousand tons of beet sugar, 513.6 tons of green tea leaves were collected in Azerbaijani fields.

As of November 1, 41.9 tons of cotton was collected.

“From the beginning of the year, 373.7 thousand tons of meat, 1,361.4 thousand tons of milk, 834.3 mln eggs and 15.9 thousand tons of wool were produced during this period. Compared tpo last year, meat production increased by 4.2%, link production - 6.3%, wool production – 3.9%, egg production decreased by 16%”, told the Committee.
