Adil Garibov: If Azerbaijani government makes a decision, construction of sterilization facility will be started next year

“All projects for the construction of sterilization facility in Azerbaijan considered for this year were realized”, Director of the Radiation Problems Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Adil Garibov said after his meeting with the Representative of the International Atomic Energy Agency for Azerbaijan Andrei Chupov.

Garibov said the sterilization installation has been already selected and they announced tender for purchasing it. “We will receive official results of the tender soon. Preparation of the territory where the sterilization facility will be build has been finished. Electric line will be established there soon. Now we are working on assessment of the communication projects. The relevant institutes are working on the project of building where the sterilization facility will be installed. About 12 experts on human resources attended training courses in Turkey, Poland and Hungary. If Azerbaijani government makes a decision, construction of sterilization facility will be started next year”.

Garibov said establishment of radiation control laboratory for the sterilization installation in 2012-2013 was suggested to IAEA and added that the sterilization facility will be build in the territory of former camel-breeding farm in Gobu.
