
In January-September, 2011, Azerbaijan produced AZN 3.877 billion - agricultural products, up 7.6% compared to last year, Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abasov said at the Cabinet meeting.
To him, growth of production made 10.6% in plant-growing, 3.7% - in animal husbandry: “Summer and winter cereals and legumes were planted with a total area of 967.3 hectares, including areas of 654.2 hectares, planted with wheat”.
As of October 1, this year, 99.3% of total area was planted and 2.431 mln tons of cereals and legumes were produced. 1.640 million tons or 67.5% of the crop was wheat. Compared with the reporting period last year, 331.1 million tons more wheat was collected, productivity grew by 5.2 centners.
According to the minister, the total yield of grain and beans in 2011 is expected to reach 2.450 million tons, up 450 thousand tons or 22.5% more than in 2010.
As of October 17, 33.348 tons of cotton was collected, up 11.8 thousand tons or 54.9% from a year earlier.
