Garadagh Cement OJSC and Junior Achievement Azerbaijan will host the Management and Economics Competition for 6 schools in Sahil and Umid settlements. The initiative is a part of the School Business Education Program (SBE), implemented by Garadagh Cement OJSC and Junior Achievement Azerbaijan in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education.
During the contest, the participants will be given CEO roles of student companies and simulate “business quarters,” while making decisions on price, production, marketing, capital investment, and research and development, and considering market conditions. The impact of the decisions will lead to the success or failure of each student company. The event will be concluded with an awards ceremony.
Started in October 2010, the School Business Education Program provides economic and business education to 940 high school students at the age of 15-17. The program covers six schools in Sahil – schools #253, #273, #228, #319, and boarding school #9 – and Umid school #294. Within the initiative, Junior Achievement Azerbaijan trained 6 teachers from these schools to teach economics and entrepreneurship, and conducted extra-curricular business competitions and entrepreneurship trainings using the innovative materials and methodology.
