Egypt`s Al Ahram newspaper features Azerbaijan`s gas reserves

The Egypt-based newspaper “Al Ahram” published an article under the title “Azerbaijan and French Total have found out huge gas deposit in the Caspian sea”. The author informs the readers on recently explored new gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of Caspian and stresses that new gas deposit will strengthen energy security of the country. Recalling discovery of Shahdeniz gas field before Absheron deposit the writer points out the significance of gas fields to ensure Azerbaijan`s energy security.

The article also provides information on Absheron gas field`s history: Absheron block was discovered by Azerbaijani scientists in 1960. The first production sharing agreement (PSA) on the Absheron field was signed in 1997 but was quitted in 2005. The new contract between Total and SOCAR was signed in 2009.
