First ship of Azerbaijani production to be commissioned in 2013

The first ship, of Azerbaijani production will be commissioned in 2013, President of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev said at the ceremony of commissioning of the Caspian Provider supply vessel.

To him, now, the works increased due to growth of oil and gas production and therefore Azerbaijan needs new vessels.

Speaking about the shipbuilding plant, currently constructed in Azerbaijan, Abdullayev said that if Azerbaijan purchased vessels from abroad so far, from 2013, the ships will be built in Azerbaijan:

“Until now, there was not such a plant in the Caspian Sea basin. The first ship will be launched in mid 2013”.
