Ekol starts new project for SOCAR

Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri will clean up 20 acres of oil-polluted land located in the Balakhanineft Oil and Gas Processing Unit of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), the company reported on Monday.

The land cleaning under this contract began in September, and the company cleaned one hectare of land.

The company plans to complete the work on a number of other ongoing projects by late 2011. Ekol plans to clean the oil-polluted areas in the Oil and Gas Processing Units of A.Amirov, H.Z. Tagiyev, Absheronneft, Balakhanineft and the industrial area Garachuhur.

The co-founders of Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri, created on March 1, 2006, to solve environmental problems on the Absheron Peninsula, are SOCAR (51 percent) and Lancer SA Services (49 percent).
