Edison, Depa make offer to transport Azerbaijani Shah Deniz gas to Europe - report

03 October 2011 [10:46] - TODAY.AZ
Italian company Edison SpA and Greek gas supply company Depa SA presented an offer through their joint venture Igi Poseidon to export natural gas from the Shah Deniz II project in Azerbaijan, Corriere della Sera reported , without saying where it got the information.

Edison wants the gas for its Interconnection Turkey Greece Italy, or ITGI, gas pipeline project designed to bring Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian region to Europe, Bloomberg quoted the newspaper as saying.

The West is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, in particular within the "Southern Gas Corridor."

The Southern Corridor is a priority EU energy project. It will diversify energy supply routes and resources, and increase EU energy security. The Southern Corridor includes the Nabucco gas pipeline, Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), White Stream, and ITGI (Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline).
