
Trade turnover between Russia and Azerbaijan is expected to hit $2.8 bln within this year, sales representative of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan Yuri Shedrin said. “It will be record indicator in bilateral trade relations”.
Shedrin said that at present there was a positive trend in bilateral economic relations after the crisis. According to his words, the statistics of the last Q1 shows enhancement of imports and exports in bilateral economic relations.
The head of the Chamber of Commerce confessed that fuel-energy sector plays a special role in the development of these relations. To him, under the relevant agreement, Russia imports natural gas from Azerbaijan: “The import of natural gas is expected to reach 2 billion cubic meters by the end of the year. Most of the gas is directed to meet the needs of the gas in Dagestan”. He also confirmed that Russia wants to expand cooperation in this field.
Speaking about the visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Azerbaijan, scheduled for next month, Shedrin said that currently works were underway on several draft agreements related to it. These are the documents on labor migration, parallel operation of power systems and cooperation in humanitarian sphere. These agreements may be signed during Russian President’s visit.
