US ambassador to Azerbaijan: TransCaspian project depends only on Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and nobody else can interfere in it

US support the construction of TransCaspian gas pipeline, US ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said at the meeting of CEIBC in Baku.

To him, by the help of this construction the US can reach strategic purposes: “That is why, the US is interested in this project”.

Bryza said that the implementation of the project depended on Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan and nobody else can interfere in this issue: “The US supports Azerbaijan in this project, both countries have strategic interest in this issue. The success of the pipeline depends on economic and political issues”.

Speaking about South Corridor, the ambassador noted that notwithstanding the project – Nabucco, ITGI, TAP, the corridor will develop.

Note that, on September 7, the EU Council gave mandate to European Commission for conducting negotiations with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. TransCaspian gas pipeline is estimated at ˆ7.9 bln. The project considers transportation of Azeri and Turkmen oil o European countries.
