Azerbaijani and Kazakh gov'ts to discuss economic relations

The Azerbaijani and Kazakh governments will consider prospects for developing bilateral economic relations. Discussions will be held in Baku in early October as part of the eighth session of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, diplomatic sources told Trend.

At present, the parties have agreed on the date and agenda for the meeting. According to the Azerbaijani Statistics Committee, bilateral trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan amounted to $142.7 million between January and June of 2011.

The Kazakh delegation, headed by the commission’s co-chairman, the Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev will arrive in Baku to participate in the meeting of the intergovernmental commission.

The Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev is the co-chairman from Azerbaijan.

Texts of new agreements will be discussed at the meeting, with more than ten bilateral documents to be considered pertaining to various areas of cooperation.

A joint venture with Kazakh capital, the Baku grain terminal operates in Azerbaijan successfully. Kazakhstan provided Azerbaijan with about 960,000 tons of grain last year.
