Moldova offers Azerbaijan economic cooperation

"Moldovan government has already presented its proposals to Azerbaijan to hold the next meeting of intergovernmental commission on trade and economic and scientific-technical cooperation," Moldovan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Igor Bodiu said.

The Moldovan side has presented its proposals on the date of the meeting and a list of issues to be discussed by the commission. The commission’s next meeting will be held in Chisinau in autumn.

The meeting is expected to discuss a wide range of cooperation issues between the two countries.

Fifty intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements have been signed between Moldova and Azerbaijan.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, trade turnover between the two countries hit about $3 million in January-July, increasing by one third compared to the same period of 2010. Some $2.84 million of this amount account for imports from Moldova.

During the same period of 2010, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $ 2.2 million.
