Azerbaijani government does not intend to invest in gold

Gold and other commodity types are performed mainly as diversification and insurance instrument in investment portfolio, State Oil Fund said.

“For instance, thought the gold and oil differ for features, both of them are commodities and have same role in investment portfolio. That’s why, considering the oil as main resources of Azerbaijan, “Rules on saving, placement and management of SOFAZ funds” bans to invest in other commodity products”, said the Fund.

At the same time, it was noted that, the uncertainties, as well disbelief to financial markets of world’s leading countries caused the agiotage around the gold: “Although, gold is reserved as an investment instruments by several investors, SOFAZ review the long-term risk and YTM features, before its investing in it”, Fund said.
