
A delegation led by chairman of the Ural Custom House Vladimir Sorokin has today paid visit to Azerbaijan. The guests held a meting with the leadership of Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
Committee says chairman Aydin Aliyev spoke about the existing relations between the two countries, assessed mutual visits of Azerbaijani and Russian president, their meetings, as well as the documents signed during these visits as a valuable contribution to development of Azerbaijani-Russian relations leaning upon strategic partnership plane.
Touching upon the way of development of the independent State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year, Aliyev noted the existence of customs system in our country even during the ancient Silk Way period. Committee chairman said that according to “The State Program of the Customs System of Azerbaijan Republic for 2007-2011” approved by the President Ilham Aliyev, development of customs system had quickened more, its normative legal and logistics had been improved, activity had been perfected. Unveiling ceremonies were held for Bilasuvar, Astara, Mazimchay, Samur and Sinig Korpu border-crossing points.
Aliyev said within framework of “Improvement of Azerbaijan’s Customs Service” by the EU and UNDP, new Customs Code had been prepared and submitted to the Parliament for discussion, and after the systematic discussion the document was approved at the meeting of the parliament.
At the same time, “single window” is applied in inspection of goods and vehicles at border-crossing points.
In turn, chairman of the Ural Custom House Vladimir Sorokin said Russia gave special importance to cooperation in all spheres with Azerbaijan as a strategic partner. Speaking about development temp of customs cooperation between the two countries, the guest noted the importance of intensification of ties in all spheres, as well as in the plane of customs. He said mutual visits and practice exchange stimulates the existing cooperation.
Thereafter, the guest viewed the Operation Center of the State Customs Committee.
