Azerbaijan and US boost customs cooperation

Chairman of Azerbaijan`s State Customs Comittee, lieutenant-general Aydin Aliyev met US ambassador Mattew Bryza. Mr. Aliyev said the relations between Azerbaijan and US were rapidly deloping in all spheres. He briefed on activity of the state customs service, which is to turn 20 next year.

Chairman said after President Ilham Aliyev signed an executive order on the “State program of development of the customs system in Azerbaijan for 2007-20011”, the activity of this structure improved. He said Milli Majlis approved a new draft law on Customs Code of Azerbaijan.

Mr. Bryza said the government of the United States attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan. He praised development of relations between the two states in all spheres, including policy and economy. Ambassador said he will do all the best to expand relations even more. He praised a new draft law on Azerbaijan`s Customs Service adding his country is ready to help in implementation of this project.
