SOCAR to measure associated gas emissions of 300 wells

The Ecology Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will measure the volume of annular associated gas in 300 oil and gas wells of the "Siyazanneft" Oil and Gas Production Department, the department said.

Wells for which measurements will be taken will be determined selectively. There are 1,055 wells along the OGPD’s field grounds.

Measurements will be carried out using devices provided by the Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership (GGFR).

The main goal of measuring the wells is determining the volume of associated gas emitted into the atmosphere at enterprises owned by SOCAR, the analysis of annual performance, and comparing scenarios in accordance with SOCAR strategy to reduce impact on climate change.
